She Found Her Joy Within

I recently took Christy Tomlinson's class She Art. To say it changed my creative life is an understatement. For at least the last 6 months I have been having some major artist/creative block. I just had a hard time making and enjoying it. I thought for the price of the class what the heck we will give it a go and see how it goes. I am so glad I spent that little bit on me. This class is great for those wanting to get into mixed media, but what it is also great for is those who are familiar with mixed media but want to get a spark to do it again. Christy is amazing, she is sweet as can be, encouraging and very real. This is not a stuffy class by any means. Also the support of all the other students give each other in the community Christy has created is ah-mazing! This class is the sole reason why I have been able to create again and want to create, create, create all the time. I am so thankful for this class.

So the first round of the class just finished up but she is starting round two on April 11th. And in an effort to pay it forward to how grateful I am for this class I am going to pay for someone to take the class. My hope is that whoever wins takes full advantage of this great class and someday in their own life pays it forward to someone else in need of a creative boost.

So, comment here telling me what brings you joy I will pick a winner April 1st (hows that for a great April Fools Day?) Make sure you give me an e-mail address otherwise I wont be able to gift the class to you, got it I NEED your email address! And if you dont win and you truly want to either learn about mixed media or you want to get a little creative inspiration, please please please spend that little extra cash on yourself. You deserve it. Mean it.

(more info about the class can be found here.)

What makes me happy and creative? colors, vintage paper, the sound of scissors cutting paper and fabric, and often some of my best ideas come when I am sleeping! Ever since you have started posting about this class, I have been drooling over your art work. I would love to be able to learn some of these techniques, they give the collage so much depth! I hope I am chosen and thanks for being so giving with your creative spirit!

I never felt I was artistic or creative, always stood by with envy as people put their hearts into their art and out to the world. First I stumbled upon Brave Girls and found that I, too, have a creative voice. From there, of course, I found a world of creative workshops, especially She Art! Untrained, untried, I long to learn more, to do more. The joy of creating has captured my heart and all I want is more time to pursue that joy!

The beauty of nature brings me so much joy. The trees are getting their leaves right now, the green is so bright and new. My roses are sprouting up and I actually see a couple of buds appearing. I can't wait for my first flower. The birds are busy working on their nests, preparing for little ones. I am continually amazed by the beauty in my own backyard.

The last few years brought many changes to my life. I was dx with multiple sclerosis, we moved, and our daughter, only child, moved out. Not just out, but 2000 miles away. UGH. LOL Soon (we hope) to move closer when her husband gets job here! BUT, in all of this I have found my joy in having a grateful heart. Each of these things brought me back to my art which had fallen by the way side over the years. So honestly what brings me joy is just the plain and simple daily things. Coffee, my animals, phone call or skype with my daughter, my garden, mostly my art. Its back in my life. I am working to learn and re learn so much! But I am grateful. I have joy!

Conversations with my boys brings me joy..... Both are on the verge of teendom and both hormonal and testing boundaries but my heart swells when we actually converse and enjoy each others company rather than grunt, argue and yell! Those moments are few are far between but even thinking about the possibility that that time is coming brings me joy. My youngest enjoys art and I would love to create with him,a friend told me about the she art workshops and I have only recently found Christy's blog and looking forward to having a go, thank you for offering this special giveaway! My kids bring me joy - my life just wouldn't be the same without them.

Art brings me some peace. I've been taking the She Art class as well, and loving it. IF I won your draw, I would give the class to a friend who has been 'fence sitting'. :)

First off, thanks for the opportunity to win. It's very generous of you. I am looking forward to the She Art Class, but winning it would be even better. So many things make me happy: hanging out with my dh and kids, lovely days, creating art, playing in photoshop, the good feeling after you exercise, hearing the voice of my heavenly Father and much much more.

Right this minute Spring break is making me pretty joyful! I'm in an intense radiology program and am in student mode all of the time.

This week is spring break for me and I get to step back into mom and wife mode.

I've never found such joy in being the one to take the kids to school, make lunches again, vacuum in the middle of the day, do the target run at 8:00am before everyone else gets there, and make a well thought out dinner.

Oh! And we've only seen the sun 5 times this month and today? Today is Sunny!!!!

Joy!

Joy for me is finding something that makes you smile, finding you can be creative no matter what you think your talents extend to and breaking through the "I can't do that !" barrier, realising you can and can make other people happy in the process. Thanks for the opportunity on what looks a super course to take.

What brings me joy....Just being the Mom I have always wanted to be to my children. I have been forunate to be a SAHM for 25 years and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

I have already taken the She Art class, so please don't include me in the drawing. I am hoping Christy will offer her She Has Three Hearts a second time. Just can't swing it right now.

Your work is wonderful!!
