I havent named her (yet) but I have already changed her clothes, played with her hair, and started designing a house. I have also scored a great set of vintage fabrics just begging to become doll dresses.
Resolutions and such to be posted tomorrow! Have fun all this New year's eve!
I have no pretty pictures of my own and its times like this that flickr is my best friend. I have lots of crafting and not enough time. So I am signing off for the rest of the year, I may still pop my head in to say hi here and there but it will be pretty silent on this end until after the new year. Then I can show off all my hard work and share some of the big plans I have for this up coming year (so excited let me tell you!).
Here’s to all of you that read everyday and those that have just stumbled across my humble little dwelling. Merry Christmas to you and yours and here is to a great New Year!!!
I am happy to say I am now treading water in the gift making world and no longer drowning though I have a lot more to do I at least have my wits about me and a decent pace set *smile* Here’s to the home stretch and a very crafty week!
The tree is a white tree with bright ornaments. My favorite thing though are these amazing wood ornaments I found. I got them at an estate sale this summer, there was an entire room FULL (and I am not even exaggerating) of them boxes and boxes of them were laid out. I held myself back and only bought 20 or so. I wish I would have bought another 50 seriously they are so dang cute! I blame it on the fact that I bought them in the sweltering heat and Christmas was the farthest thing on my mind. Next year I plan to make my own to add to the collection.
This weekend. I am sewing my little (big) butt off. Here is to 11 days to go (eek!). This weekend for me is now or never since next weekend is our holiday get togethers. Here’s hoping for a long and productive weekend.
Wrapping paper all the way (those ask me this question two years ago and it would have been the opposite!)
2. Real tree or Artificial?
I prefer a real tree but we have a white fake one this year which I am partial too as well. I love the smell of a real tree and I absolutely LOVE laying underneath and look up at the lights. With an artificial tree it is just not the same in any way.
3. When do you put up the tree?
This past weekend (photos to come soon)
4. When do you take the tree down?
Sometime in January.
5. Do you like eggnog?
6. Favorite gift received as a child?
Getting a Fleetwood Mac CD, weird I know.
7. Do you have a nativity scene?
8. Hardest person to buy for?
My Dad, he has everything he needs and anything he wants is techie and I am HORRIBLE at picking that stuff out.
9. Easiest person to buy for?
10. Mail or E-Mail Christmas Cards?
Mail, but I never do! LOL I love to get them.
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
No idea. It’s the thought that counts.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie?
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
A month before normally.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
I plead the fifth.
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
Cookies and Fudge
16. Clear lights or colored on the tree?
White lights. Though I have a love of the big old vintage colored lights. My parents have a set and I love to look at them.
17. Favorite Christmas song?
Taylor Swift- This Christmas
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?
I travel all over the state to visit family.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeers?
Probably not. I can barely remember my age how am I suppose to remember all of the reindeer?
20. Angel on the tree top or a star?
I have a teddy bear up there this year!

Crafty things mostly. If money wasn’t an object? A digital SLR, a website, and a house of our own.
No Tagging here, feel free to play along if you like! Merry Christmas!
Looks like I am going to be cursing under my breath the night before Christmas. My gifts will be made in angst and not as much love as I had hoped! Oh well, I do this to myself EVERY year.
How are your gifts coming along? Mine are still ideas in my head and a few are at least having been cut out just waiting to be sewn up.
See how tired this baby looks? Yep that is how I feel too….
Maybe I should reconsider just giving her a box for Christmas. God knows she will enjoy that more probably than any toy I get her!
The hardest time to do this is recently during those “bad” days when Leila is becoming her own little person who is frustrated at something and can’t express it yet, she screams at the top of her lungs, an ear drum piercing scream. I remind myself though that she is only small once and enjoy every minute of it, because before I know it she will be a teenager screaming again and I will have to tell myself to breath and enjoy it because she will only be a teenager once. But enough of that I don’t want to think THAT far ahead.
This past weekend we had a good dumping of snow. Leila was alright with it, she didn’t scream when we put her down to walk though she did grunt at the snow when she couldn’t walk normally due to drifts. I love seeing her all bundled up, waddling like a little penguin!
Oh and Kelly-Pup she absolutely LOVED running around and in the snow!
Do you have a favorite gift that you love to give?
Humorous t-shirts. I have a warpped sense of humor though so I am careful who I give these to and how far out there the humor goes. This year I got my daughter this.
If you’re making gifts this year, what are you making?
I did a whole long post so I am just going to link to it. A lot is all I can say!
Do you have any good stories about handcrafted gifts you’ve given or received?
Last year my dad was giving me a hard time that I had stopped knitting once I started sewing, so I told him I would knit him something. I don’t think he believed me but the look on his face from christmas last year was priceless when he opened up his present and there was a scarf.
Do you have any great gift compilation ideas (a grouping of gifts just perfect for certain recipients?)
I love creating “themed” gifts. Here is a good one: make a simple throw blanket (just sew up two pieces of fleece) throw in a oldie but goodie DVD, or maybe a year subsricption to Netflixs, a mug, some hot coacoa and some kind of baked good (brownies, cookies, etc) and you have the perfect night in gift pack!
Name one thing on your personal wish list.
ANYTHING on my Etsy favorites list, it grows daily (sometimes hourly)
Do you make and sell things that would make fantastic gifts?
What is your favorite family holiday tradition?
We have a young family so traditions are just starting to grow though I have started baking everything from scratch so I hope that becomes a tradition.
What do you love most about the holiday season?
The feel of it, it’s a good combination of the smells, the sights (I love christmas lights) and just the “good will towards men” vibe.
What do you like least about the holiday season?
The mall, so I don’t go near there!
What is your favorite holiday food?
My grandfather makes a traditional slovakian meatball that I wont even try to spell out and it is just amazing. Every year we look forward to them. Everyone in the family has tried to replicate his recipe but no one can make them as good as grandpa.
Do you have a great recipe to share?
Its not a holiday recipe for sure but I make a mean meatloaf and I love to have it during the winter months.
After: 30 minutes later!
Holy cow what a difference a little time a lot of snow can make.
Good thing I had my brand new hat on!
On a side note, I would be the only one I know of who would create a mosaic of broken TVs but it just goes to show, you can find ANYTHING on Flickr, all you have to do is look for it!
Here is something that I knew before we became attached at the hip I knew that she and I were too much alike NOT to become close friends. Our husband’s (at the time we met boyfriend/fiancé) birthdays were the same day, our backgrounds extremely similar (small towns), similar life experiences. I knew that too many things fit just right that I prayed that we would become great friends, I am glad to say that pray was answered.
We had a falling out; it was the longest year of my life as well as the loneliest. Thanks to her being braver than me we reconciled and the past is just that, the past. We have learned from it and damn if I ever let that happen again.
She is my guinea pig on all of my projects; she has always gotten hand made items from me. She is my biggest cheerleader in everyway. I know that if I am unsure of myself she will be in my corner cheering me on. She believes in me in a way a parent does for their own child, effortlessly and whole heartedly. She is an inspiration to me. She is an amazing mother and I look to her for advice and a shoulder on those hardest of days as a mom. She enjoys the same things as me and we could spend an entire day antiquing. We just get each other.
We live a decent distance away from each other but we always make time to see each other. Right now it is about once a month whether she comes down to visit or we go up to her home. I am not much a phone person but when we do get a chance of some sort of silence (hard with three kids between us) we do chat and laugh on the phone. Emails and cards are sent. I keep in better contact with her than anyone in my family but it makes sense because she is my family. You can’t pick your family, but you can pick your BFF, and they become family if you are lucky.
**If you cant tell these photos were taken after a little too many drinks were drunk. That girl sure knows how to throw a party!**

Holy crap I have a lot of sewing to do!!!! Time to look at my fabric stash and determine what fabric I need (some colors I JUST don’t have like purple, weird I know).
But with a face like hers I cant stay mad for long and just sigh and hide all the toys from her the best I can!
Love this card wreath idea.
This wreath (the first one) SCREAMS crafter
A great way to use paper to create an ornament
Another paper ornament
I love these softie trees
Oh and this button tree
And one more wreath with buttons this time
Finally this post just made me crave a bright not so traditional decorative scheme
So how are you going to decorate your home? Traditional, DIY, in the middle?
I missed two days of posting. What is a girl to do when she is out in the middle of the country with no working computer, a warm fireplace, hot coffee and the company of family? She doesn’t worry about posting and just enjoys life. This posting everyday was rather stressful for me and came at the worst time possible. I will probably post everyday in February like I did last year. I know it is a cop out since it is the shortest month, ask me if I care (I don’t). A wise friend of mine was in the same situation and took it in the best stride possible. Blogging for me is sharing my life and my journeys. But if I am worried about blogging I am not living and that pretty much defeats the WHOLE purpose of this blog. So no more I no longer will feel guilty if I miss a day or two of posting. (Or a week if that is what my life calls for)
This weekend I watched a lot of movies, visited with family and friends, helped out my grandma (who is now dubbed the bionic woman with her knee replaced), and did a little bit of crafting. I am currently working on my ornaments for the holiday swap and I am really happy with how they are turning out.
I am happy to say that the store update also went off without a hitch (though it took up all of my Sunday, which meant no cleaning oh well) and now I am off to start Christmas gifts and decorating!
1. Vegan Pumpkin Pie, 2. Thanksgiving Dinner, 3. autumn has had its season, 4. Eat more chikken, 5. Happy Thanksgiving................., 6. The Thanksgiving Table, 7. Happy Thanksgiving, 8. sandhill autumn, 9. Doe with color, 10. Autumn maples, 11. Pumpkin Pie & Pear-Cranberry Tarts, 12. pilgrim hats, 13. Thanksgiving centerpiece I made last year, 14. The country gate, 15. ., 16. Autumn Road
So once again a boring post I have a feeling that is how the rest of the week will be. Plus just to forewarn anyone who is still reading this (there are a few of you still out there right?) I will be at my parents this weekend and they live so far in the country that dial up is all they can get so very brief no picture posts will be made on Friday and Saturday most likely.
I feel drained, and it's only Tuesday!
Today has been foggy, bleak and dreary. So no photos of product (boo) so I am thinking I won’t be able to do an actual update for my store until after the holiday. I am thinking the update will be on what is dubbed the biggest shopping online day which is the Monday after Thanksgiving. So as of right now the tentative update day will be Monday November 26th.
So enough about business on to the photo of my funky trees. I am bit by the holiday bug but these weren’t actually made for that reason. These were made after 24 hours of no sleep and wanting to have something holiday-ish for my table at the trunk show. They didn’t turn out exactly how I envisioned in my crazy brain but they turned out pretty cool for me. Granted they look like a five year old did them but hey, I like that. I am going to try one more time later on in December to create another set so that I can pull them out year after year. What will happen to these proto-types? I think they will go to my work desk, they cheer me up even on the bleakest of days.
Tomorrow I hope to have pictures for you all of at least SOMETHING sleeping until 3pm on Saturday really gives you crap sunlight and my battery is dying so I am basically saying the odds are against me!
This whole craft business is a learning experience but I am not giving up by a long shot. Many people gave me wonderful comments, petted the fabric on the purses (that is always a good sign) and took business cards. Purses are a hard item to sell at a craft show I think but I just have to find the right show and go for it!
Because of my large stock I will be having a HUGE update on my shop later this week or right after Thanksgiving depending on when I can get photos so I will keep you all posted when I know.
This isnt a pitty post, or rather don't take it that way. I had a great time and wouldn't of had it any other way! You win some you loss some and I am ok with that.
Sorry about the lackluster photos for this week. I recently changed my work schedule and there is NO light when I get home. While my co-workers already think I am a little kooky, taking random pictures in the parking lot would push me over the edge to down right crazy!
