Work of Art

6/15/2010

Do you all know Suzi Blu? She is an artist who just has amazing energy. So anywho... I was watching her you tube feed and saw her challenge. She had just watch a Work of Art, which look it up on Hulu you wont be sorry. Basically it is project runway for artist. Awesome! and she started a challenge, watch this video it will fill you in. And above that is my sneak peek for my response. I am nervous more about finishing on time and getting a video loaded up something I have NEVER done before. Should be interesting! Stay tuned, hopefully it wont disappoint!

Featuring, well me!

3/15/2010

So I have been elbow deep in glue, paint and paper. Tonight I will be elbow deep in fabric. I am a featured artist this Friday at the Bohemian Bauble, in Madison WI. So if you are from the area and a blog reader please stop by I would love to meet you! And if you cant make it send me some happy vibes would you?!?!? So for the rest of the week I figured I would feature some of my collage work I have been working on. I am really proud of these! Just over the last year I feel like I am finally growing and getting my groove going with my art per say. Also I have a few new purses I am SUPER excited about so if I can get some good photos of those this week (thank goodness for day lights saving and extra sun time!) I will show those as well.

MIA

11/03/2009

This is it folks. The countdown to craftacular. I will be pretty MIA most likely as I will be elbow deep in fabric and paper for the rest of the month. I will try to update here and there and I will keep adding photos to flickr. Hopefully no one will get too bored with my shameless self promotion and the showing of products only this month!

The list continues

How was your weekend? Here in the artsy momma household we were all sick. Surprisingly though I got a far amount of art work done for the craftacular. Sewing not so much but right now any small amount done is a HUGE victory in this house. I think this latest one might be my favorite to date. Ken recently brought me home some really think cardboard pieces and I finally found a use for them. I have them in an even smaller size but I think the 5x7's will be the smallest I offer this year.

I am having a hard time giving this one up. If she doesnt sell I may have to keep her as my very own. Now I have to figure out pricing, which I am having a hard time doing. Any thoughts all?

This has been the state of our house lately. Leila and I both have the painting bug. I think I might be infatuated. The great thing about the projects I am doing is that they have to go in steps since I need drying time between each step. It forces me to slow down. I am normally a "do the craft as fast as you can to get results" type of crafter. No more and I must say I really am liking this slowed down pace.

Stretching

5/18/2009
With everything that has been going on lately I needed to re-evaluate and get back to my creativity. For me and probably a lot of other people who consider themselves creative when you stop being creative for any amount of time there seems to be a big hole in your self being.

I decided instead of diving back into sewing I would step out of my comfort zone and try something new. I found this class and dove in. I have never painted or done many collages before because I felt I wasn’t good at it. I know that any craft it takes time to really find your own rhythm and that it is not a good idea to compare yourself to any other artists work, it always will make you feel inadequate. So I went in with just the hopes to take the lessons that were given and learn how to use new materials, and have myself come out in my work.

For a first piece I am pretty happy with this. Plus I am really excited to stretch myself into a new medium and just create to create.
