Knitting bug

So turns out I am not sick, just have a knitting bug! OK well that isnt completely true but I have been itching to knit A LOT lately and finally this weekend I stole a few minutes and whipped up this cute bow I have had in my brain all week last week. It was originally for Leila but since she doesnt like anything in hair again lately (who knew?) my Blythe doll was happy to oblige. I have a feeling I may be up in my ears with knitted bows soon but I really cant help it besides, super fast super quick there is no better project!

This is super easy but if someone would like me to make a tutorial let me know!

MIA

This is it folks. The countdown to craftacular. I will be pretty MIA most likely as I will be elbow deep in fabric and paper for the rest of the month. I will try to update here and there and I will keep adding photos to flickr. Hopefully no one will get too bored with my shameless self promotion and the showing of products only this month!

This is a work in progress that has a deadline of Friday (eek!). Its a gift so once it is given and complete I will show the rest of it. I am loving it though all the same.

Late nights

I am suffering from restless/insomnia type sleeping habits lately. Last night I woke up at 12:40 am wide awake. Normally I would put in a movie or try to lull myself to sleep. Last night (or should I say this morning) I was too restless so I got on the computer and created a digital collage that I intend to have printed on a stretch canvas. Here is hoping it turns out well. I finally got back to sleep around 3 AM and up again by 6. While I love the burst of creativity I wish it would come in the middle of the day and not in the wee hours of the night/morning.

So enough crabbing that I don’t have time to be creative anymore. And all it took was the chance to win a sewing machine. Have you heard about Dana’s quilt along? But why

One of the many blogs I read posted a great question today. Basically she wanted to know why people craft. My answer? Because I have to, it to me is like breathing. I have always been "crafty" though more hot glue gun crafty. Now a days it is obviously that I am drawn to sewing. Something I hope to do for the rest of my life. I think though the biggest reason I create things is that so one day some 20 something year old will find something I created years after I am long gone at an antique store and will be connected to me and pass my spirit on for another generation. So basically I create because I want to be that cool funky spirit that haunts for fun *smile*

Oh and the photos? The starting of my spring/summer doll quilt for this swap. I am really happy with the start of it. Granted it isnt at all looking at what I originally was going for but I am rolling along with it and I think it is going to be a great one of a kind original. And the color palette, lickable I would say!

My newest hobby

I have artsy-fartsy ADD I always have. Sewing I always come back to but photography has always been a secret love of mine. I used to take a million photos when I was a teen and now. Well now I am in love again. This time with a medium I had never tried and thanks to some great photo blogs I took the plunge and now I am driving all over the place to pick up film before I can only find it on ebay. The top photo is a handful of the recent photos I took this weekend. And the group of bowls? It is my favorite so far. Now I just have to convince Ken that we really DO need a scanner so I can start showing these online properly. Oh and the next medium? I am going to try 126-film if it kills me!

Is it spring yet?

I finished up my wreath for my Spring swap. I got the husband approval, it was one of, are you really going to hang that up look? When my husband doesn't really care for something I know I have done a good job and that it is my style all the way! (How sad is that?!?!) I think it is really pretty and I hope so does my swap partner. Now I just have to finish up mine.

By the way... I looked at the calendar, yep first day of Spring has come and gone, so why oh why are we to get more snow?!?!?!

Craft Weekend Part 2

As promised the conclusion of Rose and my crafty weekend.

Rose creates the cutest memory/photo boxes using empty cigar boxes. You can see some of her work here. So at first I drew a blank what to do but as I was going through my stacks of paper I came across a fashion clothing sketch that I had squirreled away. And then the inspiration hit. This box will be put somewhere on my craft desk probably to hold buttons or thread, I havent decided yet.

The inside isnt finished yet but I am so thrilled with the front that when the inside is finished it gets finished. Thanks again Rose for the great crafty weekend!

WIP

Finally a work in progress I dont the last time I had one of these bad boys. I am attempting to make "springy" wreaths one for myself and one for a Spring swap I am working on. I have high hopes for these bad boys. Oh and the inspiration a blog I just recently fell upon, her work is A-Mazing!
