A huge step

So here is a story for you all. When I was about oh 10 or so my sister and I would have races on the road we grew up on. We lived in a rural area and had a dirt road. So our parents had no issue letting us play out in the street *smile* So anywho back to the story, my sister and I would have races. One day my mom was out as the referee/judge as to who won the race (you know in case we had a photo finish) As she said go....I take off and as I am running my mom yells something out to me that I wont repeat verbatim since it is politically incorrect but the gist was I ran pretty damn funny. I slowed down, my sister beat me, and that was the last time I ran without being aware of how funny I run. (My mom doesnt read my blog, she doesnt even know how to get on the internet, but if she did, she wouldnt deny it I promise *smile* hi mom! love you!)

Fast forward 16 years and for the first time since childhood I ran, in front of people. Like REALLY ran I didnt care, if anyone was watching. The great thing about a gym is everyone is so focused on what they are doing that they didnt really care what I was doing or how I looked.

Want to know more about me? I always relate things in my life to a Friends episode. Its true ask anyone that knows me and they will tell you have the stories start with... remember that friends episode...so this moment in life is like the friends episode where Pheobe shows Rachel how she runs like a kid arms flaring in the air, just running and not caring. I didnt have my arms flaring but I was running without caring what people thought.

So to recap:
I run funny. I dont care anymore how funny my run is. I can relate my entire life to Friends Episodes ( I really miss that show!)

Have a great weekend. Do something just for you and dont care what others think. I dare you!

Encouraging Creativity

Ken and I both believe in letting our kids play with the same gadgets we do. So since Leila has been the age of 2 we have always let her and encouraged her to use our digital camera. Not some kid friendly camera but our camera. Luckily we have two cameras and the one Leila prefers happens to be mine so the bumps and bruises hurt Ken a little less. I have been keeping all of Leila's photos and hope to compile them into a blurb book someday for her to look back at and see how far she has come.

With technology comes some great gadgets to use, like the self timer. Leila has recently started using it and asked over the last few days for me to put the camera on the tripod so she could take some pictures. What comes of those pictures both make me laugh and cry. My baby is no longer a baby, but luckily for me she still lets me call her my baby. And says with so much pride to me daily, "i'm Momma's baby"

Yes sweetie, you will always be my baby, no matter what.

Rainy weekends

This weekend:

Leila had braided piggy tails ALL weekend. This is huge, since she never lets me do ANYTHING to her hair!!

We painted our nails (hot pink and purple of course!)

Did a little shopping

Watched way too many movies

Watched Food, Inc. (I HIGHLY recommend it, watch if for free on PBS, POV through the 29th)

Dreamed about buying a home.

Started reading a book.

Never got any laundry or cleaning done.

Had both kids cuddling and falling asleep on the couch with me.

I am sorta gonna miss the rain, and the lazy days it generates!

Fill in the blank Friday

What are some of your must read, cant put down kind of books? I have been out of reading circles for a few years now. I am not looking for deep thinking books right now. Something that will help me forget about the pain I am putting my body in to get back into shape!!!

(Oh and no need to mention twilight. I have read all but the last one and it is on my list)

It comes around every year

So I am officially an adult. I joined a gym this weekend! Eek! Because of this I am going to start lap swimming and because of that I have had to face my fears and buy a "post-two-babies" swim suit. Let me tell you, it is a humbling experience. I just kept telling myself that it wont be like this for long and hopefully sooner than later I will like the body staring me back in the mirror. So for now I am no bathing beauty but hopefully by next swim suit season I will be a little bit more comfortable in Lycra *smile*
